Aastha

an hope for the homeless (Ambulance Services):
Aastha is a HOPE for the homeless, especially children on the streets. This hope will be available at all times for the poor.
The Aastha Ambulances are creating a network of medical emergency services for the homeless. The network they are forming is the streets dwellers of Mumbai, the homeless children, the hospitals, police and other NGOs working with the poor and finally society.

In the first year of implementation, one ambulance has transported 675 homeless people to seven hospitals around the city. Due to timely hospital visits the health rate has gone up positively in several of the homeless government facilities that the ambulance runs in.

Aastha is the intervention that will provide medical emergency services to the street population and also bridge the communication between the target group, NGOs, the hospitals and municipality to facilitate further medical interventions required beyond hospitalization.
